Private tutor in Newton, IA
Education
I attended Newton Senior High School and will be a freshman at Iowa State University the fall of 2011. I am majoring in materials engineering. I held a 4.0 GPA at my high school, and I graduated as a Valedictorian.
Experience
I tutored a peer my age in pre-calculus my junior year in high school. She had a "C" in the class first term, but, once I started tutoring her second term, she recieved a "B" in the class. During my senior year, I tutored my friend's younger sibling in algebra. He was failing the class for the second time and I wasn't asked to tutor him until the end of the semester. Therefore, there was not a lot I could do to help his grade, but he did recieve his first "B" (86%) on his final test. I am extremely comfortable tutoring students in algebra, pre-calculus, and, now, calculus. In addition, I love chemistry and feel confident teaching this subject. I want to be a tutor because I love the feeling of helping someone understand. I have taken algebra, geometry, algebra II, pre-calculus, AP Calculus, and probability and statistics in high school. I have passed all of these classes with high "A"s. Even though I passed AP calculus with an "A", I'm retaking calculus in college to further perfect my knowledge. Additionally, I have taken chemistry and AP chemistry in high school, and I earned a 4 on my AP chemistry test. I am personable and am willing to help children of all ages learn mathematics.
